Aeration

Soil can become quite compacted through both use and weather. When that happens, roots struggle to get adequate nutrients and oxygen. Compacted soil can also cause drainage and water retention problems that stress the grass and cause a range of issues.

The solution is aeration. Using special machines, we remove cores of soil and grass to relieve compaction, permit oxygen to flow to the grass roots freely, and restore optimal moisture retention and drainage.

Our team uses commercial ride-on machines to efficiently aerate larger properties, or a walk-behind machine for smaller spaces.

Aeration & Overseeding

Does your lawn have bare spots? Compacted soil may be part of the problem. We recommend aerating your lawn before overseeding to fill in any bare or thin areas. Aeration will make it much easier for new seeds to germinate and thrive.

Our commercial, ride-on aeration machine has a hopper for seed to rejuvenate your lawn quickly and efficiently. For smaller properties, we use walk-behind machines with a spreader bag to seed once aeration is completed.

Organic Composting

Compost is known as “black gold” because it adds such richness to the soil. It improves soil structure, enhances microbial activity, attracts earthworms, helps soil retain moisture, and provides essential, organic nutrients.

Spreading compost offers tremendous benefits to lawns, yet many companies do not offer compost top dressing because it is labor intensive and can be challenging to spread. We have overcome this obstacle by using compost that is processed into a fine powder that may be applied with a top-dressing machine. The applied compost can be hard to see and look like ordinary dirt, but it works magic on your lawn!

Grub Preventative & Treatment

Grubs are the larvae of certain types of beetles. Unfortunately, grubs feed on grass roots and can kill your lawn if the population gets high enough to do serious damage. We offer two programs to help:

  • Grub Preventative: We apply a product that helps keep the grub population under control and can save your lawn. If you get a breakthrough infestation that causes damage, we will apply a curative treatment for free and we will seed any damaged areas.
  • Grub Curative: If the grub has already caused damage and you did not choose to include the grub preventative in your program, contact us for a quote on applying a curative that kills older grubs in the lawn. We would also be happy to provide a price for re-seeding as needed.

Lime Application

All our lawn care programs include a free test to measure the pH of your soil. If your results show that your soil is acidic (as New England soil tends to be), we will recommend a lime program.

Limestone is an alkaline agent that neutralizes acids, resulting in the ideal pH for growing grass. Depending upon your lawn’s needs, we provide up to four applications of limestone as part of our liming program.

Winterizer

Winterizer is one of the most important things you can do for your lawn at the end of the lawn care season. It is an application packed with specific nutrients for your lawn to store through the winter months. Your lawn may stop growing once the air temperatures drop low enough but the roots can continue to grow under the soil until soil temps get as low as 35F. Not only does it provide the much needed energy to come out of winter dormancy and green up faster, it has also been shown to help prevent snow mold.
